History Hustle 5K

We are excited to announce the return of the History Hustle 5K Fundraiser on October 10, 2026, starting at 8:30am at the Hjemkomst Center. This fun run is designed for everyone, from the experienced runner to the casual walker! Our hope is to have 250 runners for 250 years of Independence!  

Participants will receive complimentary admission to the museum, an exclusive event t-shirt, and a beautifully handcrafted medal, among many other prizes. This 5K is designed to be enjoyable for everyone, whether you're a seasoned runner or simply looking for a fun way to support a good cause. Everyone is encouraged to wear red, white, and blue to celebrate 250 years of American Independence! Prizes will be awarded to the most patriotic looking person and child!

The course begins at the Hjemkomst Center, then follows the river to Homestead Park, and concludes back at the Hjemkomst Center. This exciting event offers a unique opportunity for community members to come together in support of local history and culture while enjoying a fun and active morning.

​Check-in and walk up registration will be available from 7am to 8:15am and the 5k will begin at 8:30am. We also encourage families to join in! Registration for this event is $40 for adults, $25 for children age 4 through 12, and free for children under 4. All participants 4 and older will receive a t-shirt. Strollers and pets are welcomed, but we ask that participants be mindful of others. Pets are required to be on a leash at all time.  

In addition to the race, attendees will have the chance to tour the historic Bergquist Cabin, providing a glimpse into the area's rich heritage. This event is an excellent way for families, friends, and individuals to engage with the HCSCC and learn more about the cultural and historical fabric of Clay County.

*Tickets are non-refundable after purchase. Online ticket sales close at 12pm on Friday, October 9. Same day registration can be done from 7:30am to 8:15am. Cash will be accepted, but no checks.*
