Join the Historical Society of Kent County in celebrating the life and legacy of Michael Owen Bourne on Sunday, October 8, 2023, from 2 pm to 4 pm.
The Bourne Family has generously gifted Michael's original drawings of historic structures located in Kent County, as well as his research files for those properties, to the Historical Society. The Society has named this gift The Michael Bourne Collection, to be housed in the Society's archives.
Noted for his extensive research, recording, restoration, and preservation of 18th century vernacular architecture of Maryland, Michael was a lifelong resident of the Eastern Shore. While his was work heavily concentrated on historic sites in Maryland, his in-depth knowledge of 18th century mid-Atlantic architecture made him an invaluable resource for the research and restoration of sites in Virginia, Delaware, and Pennsylvania as well.
