EXCLUSIVE HISTORIC HOUSES MEMBERS TOUR

A Palladian country house, set in 200 acres including parkland, woodland and a lake. Winner of the 2021 Historic Houses Restoration Award.

Radbourne Hall is an 18th-century country house constructed of red brick with Keuper stone dressings, set within an extensive park landscaped by WIlliam Emes.

Completed in 1742 for the Pole family and lived in by their descendants ever since, the house had fallen into a state of disrepair since its last major renovation in the 1950s. A far-reaching, three-year restoration project was completed in 2021, which has enhanced and protected the building’s architecture. As well as essential structural works to the roof and services and utilities, windows were reinstated and an entirely new cantilevered staircase was constructed on the house’s garden front, giving the saloon on the principal floor access to the grounds. A tiny 20mm gap separates it from the historic fabric of the Palladian mansion, meaning the listed building did not have to be directly disturbed.

The house is filled with family heirlooms, including a fine collection of paintings by Joseph Wright of Derby.

Tickets £28 including tea/coffee and biscuits.
