The Warwick Vase: Souvenirs of the Grand Tour
Simon Cottle is Consultant for Bonhams, having previously been Managing Director of Bonhams' regional operations both in Europe and in the US, as well as Head of European Ceramics and Glass at Sotheby’s in London. He worked as Keeper of Decorative Arts at Glasgow’s Kelvingrove Museum (1986-1990) before becoming an international auctioneer. His specialism is with glass and Simon is an acknowledged expert in European glass from the Renaissance to 1900, with several books on the subject to his name. He is Hon. President of the Glass Society and a Fellow of Corning Museum of Glass, New York. More recently, Simon organised Bonhams' Napoleon Sale and is currently curating Bonhams' forthcoming Grand Tour sale in July.

The Warwick Vase
With the Burrell Collection re-opening after extensive repairs, it feels appropriate to learn more about what is one of Scotland’s most treasured objects. A work of art that has inspired many inspirational forms in a number of mediums and known throughout the world, although it bears an English title it was a Scot that discovered the vase while catering to many of his countrymen on the Grand Tour.
