Arundel, a rotten borough?

In this talk, Chris explores the murkier side of life in Georgian Arundel, including its notoriously corrupt elections, both to parliament and the town council.  The rivalry between the Dukes of Norfolk and the Shelleys of Michelgrove will also feature in the talk.  This was the age of the rabble-rousing radical, John Wilkes, who is still remembered by the pub named after him in Eastergate.  Arundel has some steep hills and cobbled streets so sensible footwear is required.  Meet outside Arundel Museum.
