Understanding the Relationship between Trauma, Trust and the Perceptions of Prison Officers for Care Experienced Women

Wed 18 May 2022 12:30 PM - 2:30 PM BST

Online, MS Teams

Description

During this session, Dr Kate Gooch and Dr Isla Masson will share findings from their study of care experienced women in prison with a particular focus on the relationship between experiences of local authority care and later experiences of prison. It explores the extent to which care experience continues to shape life-course, relationships and a sense of self long into adulthood.

In this session, Kate and Isla will explore what this might mean for those trusted with working within, and leading, women’s prisons and what additional support may be needed for care-experienced women.
