HM Prison & Probation Service Think Child Campaign (2026) - Key Themes from National Child Safeguarding Practice Reviews
📅 2 July | ⏰ 10:30–11:30 | 💻 MS Teams
National Child Safeguarding Practice Reviews provide vital learning about how children experience harm, and what needs to change across systems to keep them safe. In this event, members of the National Panel will share key themes emerging from reviews, with a particular focus on what effective multi‑agency working looks like in practice and why it matters.
The session will explore how strong collaboration between agencies leads to better safeguarding outcomes, and the important role that prison and probation practitioners play in identifying risk, sharing information and contributing to coordinated safeguarding responses. It will also highlight the Panel’s newly launched website, which brings together national learning, evidence and resources in one accessible place to support practice.
The event will be led by Jacqui Belfield‑Smith MBE and Ian Critchley, both bringing extensive experience from youth justice, policing and public protection. Together, they will help translate national learning into practical insights for frontline practice and leadership.
This event offers an opportunity to:
- understand key themes from national child safeguarding practice reviews
- reflect on what good multi‑agency collaboration looks like in real cases
- consider the role of prison and probation services in safeguarding children
- explore how national learning can strengthen local practice
