What is Process + Express? 

In a Process  + Express class, you will be invited to dive into personal & communal introspection and then express what you uncover. 

To do this, you will be guided through:

-thoughtful & pertinent readings;

-juicy prompts & questions;

-creative writing;

-open dialogue;

-body-awareness meditation;

-and lots of physical movement & improvisation! 

Created & led by HOLDTIGHT's Artistic Director, Gwendolyn Gussman, with live musical accompaniment by Nicholas Caputo. Attendees move through an abbreviated version of HOLDTIGHT’s unique process including physical movement, meditation, prompted writing, and open dialogue where participants delve into questions surrounding the beliefs that hold us back from change, our wishes for the future, and how all of this relates to our balance & relationship with the earth. Participants will find openings for exciting and fulfilling ways to discover creative material from their personal, lived experiences and receive glimmers of how that fits into our greater, collective world.

Process + Express is designed for bodies who want to move and explore, for individuals interested in developing new tools to use in their creative practice, and for those wanting to dive into the intersection between art, personal narrative, community, and nature. All are welcome.

These classes are sliding-scale $15-30 and accessible to all bodies and levels (you do not need to be a dancer or artist to come!) Come and join us at Washington Street Community Center for classes filled with creativity, connection, sharing, and artistic expression. We can't wait to see you there!

Classes will be held at Washington Street Community Center in a gorgeous, light-filled, lofted studio (with plenty of free street parking nearby)! Class dates and times are as follows:

-Saturday, March 29th from 12-1:45pm

-Saturday, April 19th from 12-1:45pm
