Women's Conference - Understanding Eve

We're looking forward to getting together as women for a morning of great Bible teaching, good coffee and encouraging chat! Sarah Allen will be our main speaker and lead one of our seminars. Tickets are £5 each and details of the programme are below. Main talk: Understanding Eve

Description: There are plenty of different answers in our world to the question, 'what is a woman?' In this talk, Sarah will start from Genesis 1-3 to see what God's thoughts are, and how his ancient word can make sense of our modern lives today.

Seminars (Choose 1 from 2):

Seminar 1: Making the Most of Midlife (Sarah Allen) 

Description: There are all kinds of conflicting ideas about middle age in the world today. From secular discussion about menopause, to health advice on staying young, and the old jokes about mid-life crises. In this seminar, we'll discover that the Bible has much better ideas about this season, and can bring joy and peace for the struggles and complexities of mid-life.

Seminar 2: 'What if?' vs 'What is!' - A study in Psalm 11 (Kaete Wiese) 

Description: Life is full of worries and fear can cripple us with the whisper: 'What if? 'What if this happens?' or 'What if that happens?' Wonderfully, the Bible is full of helpful tools to help us take thoughts captive and in this seminar, we are going to look to the template laid out for us in Psalm 11 to help us think practically how to engage with these thoughts.

Bios:

Sarah is an English teacher and author who lives in Yorkshire with her husband Lewis and their dog, Laurie. A mum of five, she is enjoying having a mostly empty nest, as her adult children come and go! In time off, you'll find her outside, running, walking or gardening, or sitting by the fire with a book.

Kaete is originally from California, but came to Scotland in 2009 to study, and never left! Since October 2021, she has been working as the Women's Ministry Leader at Bruntsfield Evangelical Church. She is married to Ben and loves studying & teaching the Bible and equipping others to do the same. She enjoys studying languages, hiking in the Highlands, a morning cup of coffee, and is currently training to be a comprehensive Pilates instructor!
