Introduction to Bobbin Lace making
Need help?
In this introductory workshop, you will learn the basics of how to make lace using a basic stitch to make a 'Torchon Ground' lace bookmark.
Handmade bobbin lace, which has been around since the 16th century, is a type of off-loom weaving created atop a “lace pillow” with threads wound on bobbins. Though it might look complicated, all bobbin lace is made with two moves, with four bobbins at a time. In this workshop. coloured threads are used to make it easier to see your lace grow. Subsequent workshops are offered to enable you to learn different stitches to make different designs.
