How do we evaluate work that’s deeply rooted in people and place — work that’s relational, responsive, and often resistant to simple metrics? This workshop invites practitioners, commissioners, and collaborators working across culture, community, and place to explore how we define and evidence value in ways that are meaningful, ethical, and grounded in lived experience.

Join Dr Cara Courage and Hospitable Environment for a creative workshop. Together, we will:

Reflect on the values that underpin our work with communities and places

Identify what success looks and feels like — beyond outputs and outcomes

Explore different ways of listening, learning, and demonstrating impact

Co-develop a set of shared principles to guide evaluation practice in people- and place-based work

Whether you’re starting to shape your evaluation approach or rethinking an existing one, this session offers space to challenge assumptions, exchange ideas, and shape a more human, context-aware approach to evaluation.

Supported by CoLab and the University of Sussex.
