The aim of this workshop is to share the history of British Burlesque and Striptease. Unlike in the USA, British burlesque and striptease history is not widely celebrated and is not well known, even though Lydia Thompson and her troupe, the British Blondes, first introduced Victorian burlesque to New York. This is an important part of international theatre and cabaret heritage, yet it is often overlooked because of the stigma around the art. Striptease has often been dismissed in the UK as less than a professional art form, but that erases its impact. Join Victoria Rose as she takes you through British Burlesque and Striptease History, highlighting not only Soho queens of striptease but also the UK legends who started and inspired the community.

This is a theory based workshop, no movement or dancing is required.
Bring a notepad, laptop any form of note taking.
Happy for people to take photos and record the workshop.

About Victoria Rose
Victoria Rose (she/her), has been performing burlesque since 2017 and sex worker since 2016, she blends classic burlesque with the edge of modern strip club style. Inspired by vintage fetish models and burlesque legends, she has thrilled audiences across the UK, New York City, and Europe with her performances. Bringing Raw Stripper Entertainment Back to Burlesque. She also created the Great British Striptease in 2023 to bring the burlesque and SW community together to celebrate their intertwined history.
