“How To Feed An Artist” looks at the symbiotic relationship between artists and local watering holes at a national level, touching on The Blue Moon Diner in Charlottesville and Regina Bakery in Cincinnati, Mom&Pop spots that the co-directors zap mcconnell and Cat Rider are connected to, before diving into the main template of the film and protagonist; Mary Haglund and her Diners. Working with local artists that worked, gathered or showed their art at Mary’s Diners, we are telling a POV love story about the invisible economy between artists and local restaurants, curating their art to tell the story of how these spots are cornerstones of culture, community, evolution and resistance. Documenting current art and public events as they unfold during the years of filming will explore the interdependence of this community and the risks each of them continue to take to support one another along the way.
