Hull Parent Carer Forum – Coffee & Chat

For Hull parent carers of children and young people aged 0–25 with additional needs or disabilities (SEND).

Come along for an informal Coffee & Chat with other parent carers who understand some of the challenges of navigating SEND.

There’s no pressure and no agenda – whether you want to have a cuppa and meet other parents, ask a question, find out about local support or simply get out of the house for a couple of hours, you’re very welcome.

 Upcoming Dates

Our Coffee & Chat sessions run throughout the year. You’re welcome to come to as many or as few as you like – simply choose the date you would like to attend when booking.

 What to Expect

Our Coffee & Chat sessions are relaxed and informal.

You can:

• Meet and chat with other SEND parent carers
• Ask questions and share experiences and tips
• Find out about local SEND services and support
• Access information, resources and signposting
• Speak to our parent representatives and ambassadors
• Or simply have a cuppa and some company

Tea, coffee and refreshments are provided throughout the session.

There is no expectation to share anything you don't want to. You're equally welcome to come along just for a coffee and to meet other parents.

When you arrive, a member of our team will be there to welcome you and check you in.

Whether you have come along to meet other parent carers or because you need some information or support, we'll be on hand to answer questions and help signpost you to relevant information, services or organisations.

 Visiting Services

We sometimes invite different services and practitioners to join our Coffee & Chat sessions.

This gives parent carers an opportunity to find out more about services, ask questions and share their experiences and feedback directly with professionals.

We will let you know when a particular service or practitioner will be joining a session via Facebook or Ticket Tailor.

💚 Don't Navigate SEND Alone

We know that being a parent carer can sometimes feel isolating and that navigating SEND services isn't always easy.

Coffee & Chat is a chance to connect with other people who understand, share experiences and find information and support in a relaxed and non-judgmental environment.

Accessibility & Support

Holderness House has lift access into the building and, once inside, the event space is on one level with easy access.

We also understand that coming to a new group or walking into somewhere unfamiliar can sometimes feel difficult.

If it would help, we can arrange for someone from our team to meet you in the car park and come into the session with you.

If you have any accessibility needs or require reasonable adjustments to attend, please let us know when booking or contact us beforehand.

We will always do our best to make our events welcoming and accessible.

 Children

Children are welcome to attend.

Please be aware that our Coffee & Chat sessions and the environment are not specifically set up for children with SEND and may not be suitable for every child.

Any children attending must remain under the supervision of their parent carer at all times.

Cost

Coffee & Chat is FREE to attend.

Thanks to funding received by Hull Parent Carer Forum CIC, we are able to subsidise the cost of these sessions for parent carers.

If you would like to make a voluntary donation to help us continue running events and reaching more families, you can add a donation when booking your ticket or make a cash donation at one of our events.

There is absolutely no obligation to donate.
