AFF Event with Larry Achiampong: Speculative Futures

Speculative Futures: What Should Exist for Artists That Doesn’t Yet?

What would a more supportive future for artists look like — and what needs to change to make it possible?

Presented as part of Tender Vessels: The 2025–26 Artists Futures Fund Fellowship Showcase, this conversation brings together artist Larry Achiampong, Russell Martin, founder of Artquest, and artist and AFF alumna Delphi Campbell, chaired by Hannah Wallis, curator of Tender Vessels and Co-Programme Director at Grand Union and Chair of Artists Now.

Together, they will consider what is currently missing from the structures surrounding artistic practice. From financial security and affordable space to networks, representation, professional development and access to opportunity, the discussion will look beyond the systems that already exist and ask: what should exist for artists that doesn’t yet?

Drawing on their different experiences as artists, advocates and those working directly with artists, the panel will explore new models of support, overlooked needs and what a more sustainable and equitable future for artistic practice could look like.
