Skills for the Road Motorbike Day Thruxton 2026
IAM RoadSmart’s Skills for the Road Motorbike Day gives riders aged 17–26 the chance to develop essential riding skills with hands-on guidance from qualified instructors. Set in a supportive, small-group environment, the iconic Thruxton Circuit becomes your classroom.
Whether you’re a newly qualified rider or already have some experience, these practical sessions are designed to help you build confidence, control, and awareness on the road, using your own vehicle so you can immediately apply what you learn.
What’s included:
Circuit Skills
• Learn key riding techniques including cornering, braking, and overtaking. Instructors provide focused guidance in a safe, traffic-free environment, giving you plenty of opportunity to practise new techniques.
Motorbike Handling
• A practical session focusing on machine handling, designed to build confidence when manoeuvring your motorbike at slow speeds.
Vehicle Maintenance
• A hands-on workshop covering basic maintenance for your motorcycle, including checks on electrics, oil, tyres, suspension, and chains.
Roadside First Aid
• Learn immediate life-saving skills from a medical professional so you’ll know what to do if you encounter a collision.
