Ágora 2026 begins with a special public reading of The Golden Door, a contemporary play by Tom Donoghue presented in collaboration with The Hudson Exploited Theater Company.
Set in New York City, the play follows the intertwined lives of three Venezuelan immigrants and their American friend as they navigate friendship, love, family, sexuality, and the uncertainty of undocumented life. Through humor, resilience, and sacrifice, The Golden Door explores cultural prejudice, immigration law, and the power of chosen family.
