About the Workshop
This stand-up comedy workshop invites participants to explore the craft of writing and performing original comedic material in a supportive and collaborative environment.
Through guided exercises and discussion, participants will learn techniques for developing jokes, structuring short stand-up sets, and discovering their unique comedic voice. Participants will also have the opportunity to share up to three minutes of material and receive constructive feedback.
About the Instructors
Yaítza Rivera-Jiménez is a Puerto Rican comedian, actor, director, and writer who has performed at comedy festivals across the United States. She studied acting at the Stella Adler Academy in Los Angeles and brings a storytelling-driven approach to stand-up comedy.
Zulivet Díaz is a New York–based theater artist who holds a Bachelor’s degree in Theater from the University of Puerto Rico and trained at the Stella Adler Academy of Acting in Los Angeles. Since moving to New York in 2015, she has collaborated with companies including Loco 7, La MaMa, New Stage Theatre Company, Medicine Show Theatre, and Repertorio Español. A longtime collaborator of Yaítza Rivera, she has spent the past year co-writing Rivera’s stand-up comedy sets, bringing a storyteller’s perspective to the craft of comedy.

Ágora is IATI Theater’s week-long festival bringing together its signature community programs — Queertástico, Mujerstory, and Tertulia — alongside workshops, readings, and participatory events.
