An Evening of Raga & the Sliding String
Join us for an intimate, living-room concert featuring one of Hindustani classical music's most distinctive voices. This is a "pin-drop" kind of evening — a rare chance to experience the depth and nuance of Indian classical music from just a few feet away, in the warmth of a private home.
The Artists
Pt. Rhitom Sarkar leads the evening on the Mohan Veena — a specialized slide guitar that sits in the sonic space between a sitar's resonance and a steel guitar's soulful sustain. A celebrated disciple of Pt. Debashish Bhattacharya, Rhitom's playing is the result of years of research blending Spanish guitar techniques with the liquid, vocal-like "Gayaki Ang" of Hindustani ragas.
He is joined by Debu Nayak on Tabla — a master of rhythm whose intricate finger-work creates a dynamic, living dialogue with the sliding tones of the Veena.
Why This Is Special
- The Sound: Experience "meend" — the gliding, microtonal shifts that mimic the human voice — delivered with world-class precision.
- The Atmosphere: No stage, no barriers. Just the natural resonance of the instruments in a quiet room and the shared energy of a small, focused audience.
- The Exclusivity: Capacity is strictly limited to preserve an intimate, personal connection between the performers and the room.
