A Creative Audio & Storytelling Session with Ideas Test

Start your week at a gentler pace. Join us for a calm, restorative workshop dedicated to unpacking the vivid, strange, and memorable stories from your night-time dreams and you also have the opportunity to contribute them to a major new audio art project.

Highway of Dreams is a project all about mapping the nighttime visions of people living along the A2 corridor, that runs through Medway and Swale. Over the next three years, these recorded stories will be composed into an interactive, geolocated audio landscape by artist Fin Kennedy (Applied Stories), turning the A2 into a living audio theatre of local imagination featuring yours and your neighbours dreams.

Every night, thousands of us along the A2 experience vivid, surreal, and hilarious worlds that simply vanish the moment our alarms go off. The A2 connects our towns, but it rarely reflects our inner lives. This session exists to change that: to pause the start-of-the-week rush, preserve those fleeting midnight thoughts, and turn our private dreams into a permanent public artwork.

This session is designed to give you dedicated time and space to recall, record, and share what you see when you sleep.

What the Session Covers

• Deep Relaxation & Guided Visualisation (20 mins): We kick off the week by slowing right down. Lie back with pillows and blankets as we guide you through a gentle meditation designed to unlock recent nighttime memories and slip back into past dreams.
• Dream Journaling & Creative Recall (25 mins): Using provided dream prompts and journals, you will document the fragments, recurring motifs, sensations, and surreal twists of your dreams. Nightmares are just as welcome as peaceful slumbers—every layer adds texture to the wider archive.
• Story Sharing & Soundscape Framing (20 mins): Learn how everyday spoken memories are turned into immersive audio art. You'll have the opportunity to share your notes in small groups and discuss how music, field recordings, and sound effects can bring personal dreamscapes to life.
• Submitting to the Dreamline (Optional, 15 mins): We will walk through the recording process, giving you the chance to call our dedicated 24/7 hotline and leave your story as an official audio dispatch for the map.
• Tea, Refreshments & Conversation (15 mins): Wrap up the morning over hot drinks and light refreshments. It is an easy, welcoming space to connect with fellow locals and start your Monday in good company.
