Study Day: Deutzia at White House Farm.
Join us for a Study Day exploring the history, diversity and future horticulture potential of WHF's Deutzia Collection. This late May date is probably the best timing to still see some of the earlier and the first of the later species and cultivars. We have a large collection (70+) of both, including some interesting hybrids unique to WHF. WHF trustees will be on hand to discuss and guide.
Deutzia is another genus whose variety and usefulness in the garden is often overlooked (e.g. continuity of flower, co-growing with other flowering shrubs, and filling the 'June gap’), so we hope the day will convert some attendees to the merits of the best varieties, particularly with the right pruning treatment (which we’ll discuss, and might have the chance to practice - bring secateurs, and 20X lenses.)
