Music travels across oceans. Memory travels across generations. ARSENIO! brings them together in a Bronx bedroom where past and present collide.

About the play:

Set in the Bronx, ARSENIO! follows Yennifer, a teenage girl preparing for her audition at the Bronx Academy of the Arts while escaping into her phone. When the spirit of legendary Afro-Cuban composer Arsenio Rodríguez appears in her bedroom, generations collide. Through live music and multimedia projections, they journey through son cubano—the sound that helped give birth to salsa in the South Bronx—while confronting questions of heritage, ambition, and belonging.

Inspired by the life and legacy of Arsenio Rodríguez, known as El Ciego Maravilloso, the play blends tradition and technology to explore immigration, family, and cultural memory. As Yennifer navigates her digital world and her dreams of becoming a musician, she must decide what it means to carry history forward while finding her own voice.
