Workshop 1: Games, Fear & Data: Transforming Immersive Experiences into Scientific Research

This interactive workshop explores how immersive experiences and games can be transformed into structured scientific research. Participants will engage with a combination of custom-developed and adapted VR and game-based environments, demonstrating how such systems can be used to study human behavior, cognition, and emotional response. 

The workshop presents real research scenarios, including: 

– a VR fear-inducing experience combined with EEG-based analysis 

– an interactive educational experience 

– a VR-based environment for understanding databases and SQL concepts

Through these case studies, participants will explore how immersive technologies are integrated with data collection and AI-driven analysis to produce meaningful research insights. The session emphasizes hands-on interaction and highlights how both existing platforms and custom-built solutions can be leveraged to design measurable and impactful experiments.

Workshop 2: Micro-Grid Digital Twin

Αντικείμενο του workshop είναι η ανάπτυξη και λειτουργία ενός αμφίδρομου Κυβερνοφυσικού Συστήματος (Cyberphysical System). Ξεφεύγοντας από την παραδοσιακή απομονωμένη Εικονική Πραγματικότητα παρουσιάζεται ο σχεδιασμός ενός "Ψηφιακού Διδύμου" (Digital Twin) ενός ηλεκτρικού πίνακα χαμηλής τάσης. Το σύστημα γεφυρώνει τον φυσικό εξοπλισμό με ένα περιβάλλον Mixed Reality (Meta Quest 3), αποδεικνύοντας τον συγχρονισμό δεδομένων και καταστάσεων σε πραγματικό χρόνο (state synchronization).
Οι συμμετέχοντες θα κατανοήσουν έμπρακτα τη διαφορά μεταξύ μιας απλής 3D προσομοίωσης και ενός πραγματικού κυβερνοφυσικού βρόγχου ελέγχου. Θα εξοικειωθούν με την αρχιτεκτονική δικτύωσης συσκευών IoT με συστήματα Spatial Computing και θα κληθούν να σκεφτούν κριτικά πάνω στους περιορισμούς δικτύου και ασφάλειας.
