Ikebana International Chapter 1 Presents: Beyond Borders: Weaving European Floristry into Sogetsu Practice
Demonstration by Keith Stanley, a renowned floral artist and educator based in Washington, DC. This event will be hosted at the Columbia Country Club at 7900 Connecticut Ave, Chevy Chase, Maryland 20815. Luncheon and Demonstration on Friday March 6, 2026 from 10:00 AM to 2 PM.
Program:
- 10:00 AM – Social Hour & Ginza: Enjoy mingling with members and guests while browsing the Ginza, where vendors will be offering a selection of ikebana containers, Asian art items, and more.
- 11:00 AM – Ikebana Demonstration: Watch as Keith Stanley demonstrates the artistry of Sogetsu Ikebana, showcasing his unique approach to this timeless floral tradition.
- 12:30 PM – Luncheon: Following the demonstration, enjoy a delightful luncheon and further opportunity to socialize.
There will be a silent auction and raffle featuring Ikebana-related items. It’s a great opportunity to support the Chapter while acquiring something truly unique!
Meals of the Day:
- Regular Menu: Chicken & Mushroom Crepes, Wild Rice Pilaf, Shallot & Herb Haricot Verts and Lemon Pie for dessert
- Vegetarian & Gluten-Free Menu: Eggplant Napoleon, Tofu, Broccoli, Couscous, Roasted Red Pepper Coulis and Fresh Fruit for dessert

Tickets are $70.00 for II members, $75.00 for non-members, and $30.00 for demonstration-only tickets.
Tickets will go on sale on February 6, 2026. All luncheon tickets must be purchased by February 27, 2026, by 12 (midnight.) Demonstration-only tickets will remain available through the day of the event.
No refunds are available for cancellations after Febrary 27, 2026.
Free parking and valet parking are available. The clubhouse prohibits using CELL PHONES, DENIM JEANS and PUBLIC ADVERTIZING
Biography
Keith Stanley is a certified Sogetsu Ikebana teacher and International Master Florist, whose work bridges contemporary European floral design and the philosophy of Sogetsu Ikebana. His sculptural botanical pieces explore line, balance, and movement through natural and reinterpreted materials, embodying the Sogetsu Ikebana principle that “anyone, anywhere, with any material” can create beauty.
A passionate educator and sought-after demonstrator, Keith has presented at prestigious events worldwide, including Hoogstraten in groenten & bloemen and Floraliën Gent in Belgium, Art in Bloom DC, and the Organization of Floral Art Designers (OFAD). His floral designs often embody themes of regeneration and transformation, giving new life to botanical elements through form and space.
