Although live performances will not be possible until singers and audiences can safely gather together, Illuminati is making plans for internet-based musical experiences in the near term and for live concerts once they are able to safely resume. We are happy to announce our first event. On Sunday, October 4, 2020 at 2:00 pm, Dr. Tony Thornton will lead a virtual community sing of the stunning Requiem in C minor by Luigi Cherubini
“If I were to write a Requiem, Cherubini’s would be my only model.”
—Ludwig van Beethoven

Not familiar with this piece? That’s one reason we chose it! Let’s explore some new repertoire! Conductor Tony Thornton assures us the music is approachable, beautiful, and best of all, it’s all chorus: no solo movements. This work is said to have been admired by Beethoven, Cherubini’s contemporary, with movements that range from gentle and contemplative to fiery and dramatic. Tony will lead us all in some vocal warmups and introduce the piece. Invite your singer friends, wherever they may live. We will have a discussion/chat opportunity at the end of the event. We may not be able to gather sing together in physical space, but we can sing together in spirit.
