The Art of Watercolour - 5 Week Course - Daytime, Kelsall

A calm, encouraging 5-week course designed to help you build confidence with watercolour while exploring a range of beautiful subjects and techniques.

Whether you’re completely new to watercolour or returning to creativity after time away, you’ll be warmly welcomed into a relaxed, supportive environment where the focus is on exploration, enjoyment, and gentle progress — not perfection.

Across five thoughtfully structured sessions, you’ll gradually build an understanding of how watercolour behaves through landscapes, trees, reflections, florals, and expressive final compositions. Along the way, we’ll explore colour, layering, texture, atmosphere, and the delicate balance between control and letting the paint flow naturally.

This course is designed to help you slow down, observe more closely, and develop confidence in your own creative decisions while discovering a style that feels personal and enjoyable to you.

Throughout the Course, You’ll Explore…

Week 1 — Skies & Simple Landscapes
Explore soft washes, blended skies, atmospheric perspective, and simple landscape compositions while learning how watercolour moves across the page.

Week 2 — Trees, Texture & Foliage
Discover expressive ways of painting trees, foliage, bark, and natural textures using loose brushwork, layering, and simplified forms.

Week 3 — Water, Reflections & Ripples
Learn how to create calm lakes, rivers, reflections, and water surfaces using softened edges, lifting techniques, and gentle mark-making.

Week 4 — Florals & Botanicals
Experiment with loose florals, leaves, glazing, and delicate layering while developing confidence with softer shapes and botanical studies.

Week 5 — Bringing It All Together
Create a final personal piece inspired by the techniques and subjects you’ve enjoyed most throughout the course, with plenty of guidance and support along the way.

Do I Need Experience?
Not at all. This course is designed to gently guide beginners while still offering plenty of inspiration and creative freedom for those with some previous experience.

We truly believe everybody is creative — sometimes it just takes the right environment, encouragement, and time to reconnect with it.

Clothing: Paint can stain, so please wear something you’re happy to get a little creative in.

Prefer not to be photographed? Just let us know on arrival and we’ll make sure you’re not included.

Refunds: Tickets are non-refundable, but if you let us know at least 48 hours in advance, we’re happy to issue a voucher for a future event.

Suitable Age: Our sessions aren’t typically designed for young children due to materials and instruction level. However, if you feel your child would enjoy the experience, we’d love to welcome you both — just ensure they have their own ticket and are accompanied by a paying adult.
