Description
What are we going to do about theatre and the performing arts? Devoted & Disgruntled 15 is the unconventional convention for everyone who loves, makes and lives theatre and the performing arts.
Tickets
We want everyone to be able to take part in Devoted & Disgruntled, regardless of finances. D&D thrives when there's a wide range of voices in the room. For the last few years, the annual D&D event has made less in ticket sales than it has cost to put on. Improbable can't afford to keep on paying for this loss, but we also don't want to price anyone out of D&D by raising prices too high. So this year we're taking a risk, inspired by other big sector-focused events (thanks SlungLow) - pay what you choose tickets. We hope that between everyone who comes to the annual D&D we can cover the costs of the event together. Whether you're paying for it out of your own pocket, or using your organisation's training budget, you choose what you think is a reasonable price.
Here are some facts that might help with that:
- D&D15 has capacity for 375 people.
- D&D15 will cost £21,100. This includes venue hire, access costs (including BSL interpretation and live captioning), tech support, and things like display boards, signage and many many post-it notes. It does not include any staff time.
- Improbable receives annual funding from Arts Council England as a National Portfolio Organisation. This pays for 10 free-to-attend satellite D&Ds every year, plus staffing and administration for the whole D&D programme. It also covers £4,500 of the £20,100 costs of D&D15
- That means D&D15 needs to make £15,600 in ticket sales to break even.
- Last year’s ticket prices were £27 full and £17 concession, and we made a £2,000 loss.
We know that money is tighter than it has ever been, but we hope that those who would normally pay much higher prices for events, conferences or professional development will chuck a bit more into the pot.
Note: VAT at 20% applies to all bookings, but will not be reflected in your booking confirmation email due to limitations in the box office system. Please get in touch with jeremy@improbable.co.uk if you would like a VAT receipt for your Pay-What-You-Choose booking.
