Carnevale di Oscurità

An immersive Dark Carnival where you decide the outcome...

Join us for the “Carnevale di Oscurità”, or “Carnival of Darkness”, a thrilling immersive cabaret. Part variety show, part interactive theater, all spectacular. You and your fellow guests are invited to get to know the strange denizens of the Carnevale, each a character themed after a card of the Major Arcana of the Tarot. Every card is represented except for the Tower, which is mysteriously missing... Enjoy world-class performances in circus arts, music, burlesque, belly dance, stage magic, and much more; all while you delve into the mysteries of the Carnevale, unravel the tale of its dark origin, and decide its future fate. 

The Setting

It is 1907, and the Carnevale di Oscurità is visiting Boston on its grand world tour. You have heard wonders about the traveling show — that it dazzles and delights with it's many incredible acts — but some whisper about an undercurrent of darkness that follows in the wake of the magic. People go missing. Rival circuses burn to the ground. And no one can quite explain how they manage to travel the world so effortlessly with such a large company...

What to Expect

The experience begins with some light interaction as audiences arrive and check coats, get comfortable, and get cocktails. The show starts with a grand parade of all performers and introductions. Next, guests are invited to visit various attractions and meet the performers  whether having a  reading with the Fortune Teller, playing games with the clowns, getting a tincture from the Apothecary, or visiting the Confectionary for something sweet.
There are 22 cast characters, and every single one has rich stories to uncover. Guests will discover mysteries to solve, puzzles to crack, and clues to follow. Soon, all are seated and the variety acts begin. When the first set is over, there is an intermission during which more of the story can be unraveled, and connections made. Next, guests are again seated for a second set of jaw-dropping variety acts.  After the second set, guests have a limited amount of time to then make critical choices that will impact the finale. Guests must find a way to earn their place at the Finale, which is an act so dangerous it requires either a personal invitation from one of the Carnevale's original founding troupe, or else a signed waiver. 
Finally, the Finale act takes place, and the outcomes of the night are revealed to all. There are multiple endings to the show that are contingent upon guest choices and actions throughout the night. 
This show is deeply interactive, so you can expect that performers will approach and engage with you, but you're never expected to perform or be a character yourself (unless you want to -- playful spirits are welcome).

How to Dress

Guests are invited to dress up for the occasion, but not required to. Turn of the century and neo-Victorian clothing is appropriate for this occasion. We humbly request that you not wear clown makeup or any black/white/red-only garb that might confuse you with the cast, but we're not cops so do what makes your heart sing.
