Pleasure Church: Pleasure and Boundaries

Welcome to Pleasure Church: Pleasure and Boundaries, a six-week online experience that promotes a pleasure-centered faith grounded in an incarnational Christian story.

We celebrate the sexuality of all of humanity and the sensuality of all of life as gifts of the Creator. Because we do not fear the sexual body we also do not fear science, diversity, or a judgmental God.

You will register one time for all 6 sessions, but we encourage weekly donations from participants to cover the cost of the event.

The 6 week series will incorporate teaching and guided discussion, with the hopes that participants will feel that they are a part of a community of people dedicated to incorporating pleasure-centered principles into their life of faith.

Session (which go from 1:00-2:15) topics include:

• Oct. 11 Building and Finding a Community of Pleasure: how and when to challenge boundaries
• Oct. 18 Science of Pleasure and a Faith of Suspicion: where is the boundary of knowledge?
• October 25--NO CLASS
• Nov. 1 Pleasure and Hedonism and the Boundary of Indulgence
• Nov. 8 My Body, Your Body: where is the boundary?
• Nov. 15 Pleasure and Desire: When the boundaries change?
• Nov. 22 Fantasies and Inner Life: using the boundaries for inner growth

Rev. Dr. Beverly Dale (aka Rev Bev) an ordained pastor in the Christian Church (Disciples of Christ) tradition will be presenting her work to create a pleasure-centered faith to heal from the toxicity of sexual guilt, body shame, and the fear of judgment promoted in much of Christian teaching. Rev. Krysta Rexrode who is ordained in the United Methodist Church and serves on the board of the Incarnation Institute for Sex & Faith (IISF) will serve as our facilitator to invite us to share in the context of an affirming community and apply these ideas to our lives.
