Join us for a special screening of Pride as part of Open Conversations: Film, Rights & Cultural Change, a new series of film and discussion events exploring rights, identity, culture, and social change in Northern Ireland.
To mark 35 years since the first Pride parade in Belfast, this event reflects on how life has changed for LGBTQIA+ communities since 1991, and what still needs to change.
Set during the 1980s miners’ strike, Pride tells the true story of an unexpected alliance between LGBTQIA+ activists and striking mining communities, a story of solidarity, resistance, and collective action that continues to resonate today.
After the screening, we’ll be joined by Joe Walsh (HERe NI, LGBTQIA+ Heritage Project) for a facilitated conversation, followed by audience discussion and reflection.
A space to come together, watch the film, and take part in an open conversation about what Pride means in Northern Ireland today.
