InFrame - Culture Catalyst Fund Launch - 2nd Funding Round Information Event

The Culture Catalyst Fund is a £1m fund which aims to improve collegial research leadership and research culture through innovative, collaborative projects. Open to colleagues within the research ecology of the University of Glasgow, the University of St Andrews, and the University of Edinburgh, we are looking for projects which have the potential to disrupt long-standing institutional hierarchies to build leadership opportunities. We will fund innovative, collaborative projects that focus on how research is led and the behaviours, roles, contributions and impact of those who lead.

We aim to have equality, diversity and inclusion embedded through these projects, and by doing so we hope to widen the definition of what a 'research leader' looks like. If you have a vision for changing research culture, the fund will allow you to drive and expand these ideas, while also becoming part of a community of emerging leaders.

Projects can last ten months, but we encourage you to pitch shorter projects, too. Funding will be up to £50k, with projects starting in Summer 2025.

Come to this event to learn more about the application and reviewing process of the Culture Catalyst Fund. 

Firstly, our Institutional Leads, Kay Guccione, Head of Research Culture & Researcher Development at the University of Glasgow, will explain what InFrame is setting out to achieve, Sara Shinton, Director of Future Leader Fellows Development Network, Institute for Academic Development at the University of Edinburgh will give an overview of the three areas of InFrame. Our final Institutional Lead, Catherine Burns, Executive Director of Research Support Services at the University of St Andrews, who is leading on the Research Culture Catalyst Fund, will chair a panel discussion aimed at providing information and advice on the second funding call for the Culture Catalyst Fund, closing at 3 pm on Friday 9 May 2025.

• Lee Murphy, University of Edinburgh, Project Co-Lead from "Research Technical Professionals: Recognising Leadership & Expertise (RELAX) in technical specialists", a project which was funded in the first call of the Culture Catalyst Fund 

There will be a Q&A session where you can put your questions to the panel to better understand the requirements of the Culture Catalyst Fund to ensure a strong application.
