PERFORMANCES CANCELLED

This is Ingrid, the writer/performer of "Eleanor's Story", I am beyond disappointed to say that I have lost my voice and will need to cancel today's performances.

I hurt my voice earlier this week and despite my best efforts to recover it, I'm just not able to perform yet. I am so sorry for any inconvenience this may cause.

If you bought a ticket, I am absolutely happy to offer a full refund. Alternatively, if you would still like to see the show and support my work, I can send you a link to a video recording we shot last year.

Email ingrid@eleanorsstory.com with your preference.

Thank you so much for your understanding, my sincere apologies again. I do hope to return to Toronto soon!

All the best,

Ingrid Garner

Eleanor's Story: An American Girl in Hitler’s Germany traces 9-year-old Eleanor’s path from the U.S. to Germany, where her family moves in pursuit of work during the Great Depression. But when war breaks out as they are crossing the Atlantic, return home becomes impossible. While desperate for allied victory, her family must endure allied bombings, hunger, gestapo threats, the final fierce battle for Berlin and the perils of Russian occupation.

80 years later, Eleanor's granddaughter brings this unique history life. Embodying her ancestors in a fascinating performance accompanied by cinematic sound and video, and punctuated with humor, Garner delivers a timely coming-of-age odyssey.

Eleanor’s Story: Life After War In this sequel, 16-year-old Eleanor has managed to survive the war an enemy alien caught in Berlin, but upon her long-awaited return home to America, she discovers that her beloved country is now foreign to her. Post-Traumatic Stress Disorder is used as a theatrical device to contrast a plentiful America with flashbacks of a ravaged Berlin. This sequel offers a fascinating look at the intricacies of coping with trauma, family separation, survivor’s guilt, and culture shock.

In this show, PTSD is used as a theatrical device to contrast a plentiful America with Eleanor’s flashbacks of a ravaged Berlin. Despite her newfound safety, an innocent sound or word can trigger a terrible recollection. It is a struggle all too familiar for today’s international refugees. The war may be over, but the battle within has just begun.

*It is not necessary to have seen the original show to enjoy this sequel.
