Init Music Presents: UNCUT

UNCUT: A night in Burnley dedicated to the bands actually doing something different in East Lancashire. This is four bands, a massive sound system, and a room full of people who care about the future of the local music scene.

From desert rock riffs to indie anthems that will stay in your head for a week, this is the first chapter of Init Music and the start of the revolution of original music in East-Lancashire.

THE LINEUP

Sky Valley Mistress

Forget everything you know about a two-piece. Sky Valley Mistress are a "Duel-Drumming" duo that hits harder than most five-piece bands. Rebuilt from the ground up by Kayley "Hell Kitten" Davies and Max "Leather Messiah" Newsome, the band has stripped the project back to its most primal form. Their live set features both members manning the drums simultaneously to create a massive wall of sound. There are no backing tracks and no click tracks here. Expect fuzzed-out rock and roll, Sabbath-influenced grooves, and desert rock grit that takes over the room. Fresh off the release of their album "Luna Mausoleum," they are currently at the peak of their powers.

Harris Rafferty

Harris Rafferty has landed in the musical landscape with the confidence of someone fully formed. With a string of successful singles like the nostalgic "Duck Duck Goose," the high-energy "Eighteen," and his latest fiery release "Burnin’," he has proved he can write a massive indie hook without the pretension. It is classic Northern songwriting updated for right now, featuring guitars that chime and charge in equal measure. His sound balances the playful with the profound, delivering perfectly poised post-Britpop anthems that make a big room feel intimate.

Zoltar

The youngest on the bill but arguably the loudest. Zoltar are a teenage crew from Burnley bringing back a sound that feels like a 70s stoner rock fever dream. They have quickly built a reputation for their melodic original songs, blending the songwriting sensibilities of The Beatles and The Buzzcocks with the raw, messy energy of Nirvana. They represent the next generation of the Burnley rock scene, proving that the local underground is in very capable hands.

The Voy

The Voy is the latest project from local upcoming superstar Sean Toms. Known for his "army of supporters" in Burnley and his previous work with the band Surf, Sean has already made a name for himself as a formidable solo performer with his loop machine and acoustic guitar. With The Voy, he moves into a more atmospheric, alternative territory. The project builds on the momentum of his previous live successes, trading the solo acoustic vibe for sharp melodies and driving, rhythmic crescendos. This is Sean Toms in his most evolved form yet, rounding out a lineup that represents the absolute best of East Lancashire.
