The basis of a collagraph is 'collage' where a low relief printing plate is constructed from a thick card base, sticking materials such as card, textured papers and tin foil onto the surface and adding 'malleable' materials such as tile adhesive, acrylic paint and pva glue.
You’ll be assisted to design and create your own plates at home before the workshop using the Textile Archive online reference images, your own ideas or current art projects. Clear and simple instructions will be available online and most materials can be found easily around the home.
On the workshop you will focus on exploring the different ways to print the plate looking at how outcomes can vary with differences in inking and wiping techniques, coloured relief rolls and the addition of extra elements such as collaged chine colle.
