A cinematic documentary by Reuben Armstrong about an elderly community of passionate volunteers on the Isle of Man who have spent the past few years restoring their 130-year-old Victorian-era pier. A vision realised with similar values of community & local spirit as in our own story of saving the old school in Tracton. Heart-warming and inspiring.

Admission: €5 plus booking fee
The film is a cinematic documentary about an elderly community of passionate volunteers on the Isle of Man who have spent the past few years restoring the local 130-year-old Victorian-era pier. It is an inspiring and heart-warming piece that we hope will encourage audiences to ask the question – what do we want to do with our time on Earth?
“HOW CAN AN 87 YEAR OLD HAVE ANYTHING TO DO WITH HOW IT’S GOING TO BE IN THE FUTURE?!
…YOU CAN’T. BUT YOU CAN HAVE ENOUGH IMAGINATION TO SEE WHAT THEY COULD DO!
IT’S FOR THE NEXT GENERATION.”
This beautiful, charming, cinematic documentary captures a community project over 130 years in the making. On a small island in the middle of the Irish sea, a giant derelict pier juts out into the rough sea. Closed for decades, now the town is getting a new lease of life thanks to a defiant elderly population building something for the next generation. A wind-swept, tea-soaked, heart-warming film about community, hope and leaving a legacy beyond our years.

The film project was inspired by the director's Grandad. Through his local town’s community and their love for their incredible 2000ft pier – now finally reopened to the public after 30 years – they have bridged a generational divide both symbolically and through tangible community action.
