Join us for poetry in the garden!
As part of its ongoing Roots of Inspiration series, Innisfree this year is exploring the Romantic Era which ushered in radical changes in how we look at nature and appreciate its beauty and power. In that spirit, join award-winning poet and professor Paul Kane to read and discuss the poems of Mary Oliver from her collection, Devotions, many of which touch upon nature. Please bring along a blanket or folding chair (and your own copy of Devotions if you like) as we will be enjoying these Green Words out in the landscape. Paul Kane will be joined by Innisfree landscape curator Kate Kerin.
Green Words is a collaboration with the Millbrook Library as part of Innisfree Garden's Community Day and is free with garden admission. Thanks to grant support from the Northeast Dutchess Fund of the Berkshire Taconic Community Foundation, garden admission on community days is free for residents of Amenia, Clinton Corners, Dover Plains, Millbrook, Millerton, North East, Pine Plains, Stanford, Washington, Wassaic, Wingdale, and their hamlets. Please be prepared to show proof of residency.
