Join us for the launch of IEP Journal #18, a special edition exploring localism and its impact on the employability sector – examining what the changing relationship between national and local government means for employment support, public services, communities and the people we support.

This edition is guest edited by Jonathan Werran, Chief Executive of Localis, an independent think tank dedicated to issues related to politics, public service reform and localism.

Jonathan brings extensive experience of local government, public policy and communications to this edition. Before leading Localis, he worked in journalism, consultancy and strategic communications, including five years as a reporter, commentator and features editor for The Municipal Journal (The MJ) and as the first Strategic Communications Officer for the District Councils’ Network.

Through contributions from our authors, IEP Journal #18 will explore the opportunities, challenges and implications of a more localised approach to employability, considering how policy, commissioning, partnerships and service delivery can respond to different local labour markets, communities and economies.

A Special Live Discussion with Our Contributors

For this launch event, we’ll be joined by a selection of our featured authors and contributors, who will explore and debate the key ideas emerging from this edition.

The discussion will provide an opportunity to look beyond the individual articles and consider what localism means in practice for the future of employability – bringing together different perspectives, evidence and experience from across the sector.
