Looking for scientifically-validated tools to use in your next music therapy assessment? This 2 CMTE course presents four research-based measures that assess different dimensions of clients' musical motivations* (e.g., music reward, focus on lyrics). We'll discuss potential expansions and limitations of applying these tools into clinical work, and review how to interpret each tool's results through the supporting research. Participants will gain access to lecture slides, supporting research articles, and digital self-calculating and pdf downloadable versions of all assessment tools. Participants must register with an email linked to a Google Account to receive course materials. CMTEs can only be issued to participants who attend the entire course time. Attendees who arrive more than 10 minutes late will not be admitted.
*The questionnaires covered in this course were designed for adults who can read and self-report their internal or abstract experiences related to music. Clients with cognitive impairments, limited literacy, or difficulty with abstract self-reflection are not a good fit for these assessment tools.
