Kinship in Scotland: A Collaborative Conversation

Wed 9 Sep 2026 11:00 AM - 12:30 PM CMS, Saltire Court, 20 Castle Terrace, Edinburgh, EH1 2EN

Through Intandem's growing work with young people, kinship carers and partners across Scotland, and with the support of a significant five-year National Lottery investment, we are committed to supporting positive change for kinship families.

At this significant moment for kinship care, and as work progresses on Scotland's Vision for Kinship Care, there is a growing opportunity - and responsibility - to turn shared ambition into meaningful action. We are therefore convening a small group of senior leaders from policy, practice, lived experience and the third sector - not simply to share perspectives, but to identify opportunities for collaboration, influence and collective action that can improve support for kinship families.

Our ambition is that this conversation leads to more than discussion: creating greater alignment, shared momentum and practical action to drive positive change for kinship families across Scotland.

The discussion will focus on:

  • The current picture for kinship families in Scotland (we will seek your insights in advance to share a collective view on the day)
  • What we are hearing from our experts by experience
  • Identify opportunities for collaboration, influencing and collective action

This is intended as an open and constructive conversation, creating space to connect perspectives and to consider how we can work together to improve support for kinship families.
