Purely Present Health is pleased to present this event as part of the Integrative Health Speaker Series—a community-centered event series bringing trusted integrative and functional health education, expert perspectives, and meaningful conversation to women in the local community.
Let’s Talk: Focus, Function & ADHD in Perimenopause & Menopause: An integrative health conversation about the changes women may notice in attention, focus, and how their brain functions in midlife.
Perimenopause can bring noticeable changes in focus, attention, emotional resilience, energy, and everyday functioning. For some women, it’s the first time ADHD comes into question; for others with a known diagnosis, symptoms may become more noticeable or harder to manage. This conversation brings together clinical, nutrition, coaching, and behavioral perspectives to explore why these changes may be happening and practical ways to better support the brain in midlife.
We’ll explore:
Why focus, attention, and executive functioning can change during perimenopause
Why ADHD may first become apparent — or existing symptoms may become harder to manage — in midlife
The overlap between ADHD, hormonal fluctuations, stress, anxiety, and burnout
What the ADHD brain needs nutritionally and how stress, sleep, hormones, appetite changes, and executive function can affect nutrition and ADHD symptoms
How overwhelm, competing demands, energy, and capacity can affect everyday life
How values can help guide priorities and decision-making when demands compete
Practical tools to support follow-through, time management, routines, health habits, and self-care
When changes in focus, attention, or functioning may be worth discussing with a healthcare professional
