Sourav Ganguly in conversation
To know cricket is to know Sourav Ganguly.
During his Test debut—against England at Lord’s in the summer of 1996—Ganguly made history by becoming only the third batsman to score a century in each of his first two innings. It was a sign of what was to come: over his 15-year career, Ganguly cemented himself as one of the greatest batsmen of all time.
Join the Intellectual Forum and Jesus College as Ganguly, in conversation with Julian Huppert, reflects on his remarkable career, his time as captain of the Indian Cricket Team, and his current role as a leader in international cricket.
About the speaker
Sourav Ganguly played cricket for India from 1992 through 2008. He was named captain of the Indian team in 2000 and is now regarded as one of India’s most successful test captains, leading India to the final of the 2003 World Cup.
After his retirement from professional cricket in 2012, Ganguly served as President of the Cricket Association of Bengal and the President of the Board of Control for Cricket in India. He is currently the Chairman of the ICC Men’s Cricket Committee.
