Join internationally acclaimed Odissi dancer Dona Ganguly for an afternoon workshop that will introduce you to the art of Odissi dance, one of the eight recognised classical Indian dance forms.
Originating from the eastern state of Odisha and known for its known for its grace, fluidity, and intricate expressions, this dance form has a rich history that dates back to over 2,000 years, with its roots deeply embedded in temple rituals and devotional practices.
Revived in the mid-20th century after a period of decline during colonial rule, Odissi has gained global recognition for its aesthetic appeal and spiritual depth. Today, it is taught and performed worldwide, continuing to inspire audiences with its timeless beauty.
No prior dance experience is needed—this workshop is open to everyone aged 18 and up.
About Dona Ganguly
Dona Ganguly is a celebrated Odissi dancer who began dancing at the age of three. Trained for 25 years under the late Guru Kelucharan Mohapatra, she founded her dance academy, ‘’Diksha Manjari’’, in 2000.
Dona has performed at prestigious festivals across India, including the Uday Shankar Dance Festival, Konark Festival, and Mahakumbh Mela, as well as internationally at events such as the World Expo in China, the "India by the Nile" festival in Egypt, and cultural events across the UK, USA, and Switzerland. She continues to captivate audiences worldwide with her artistry and dedication to passing the art of Odissi dance on to new dancers
