Anti-Making Making Club #1: Laser Cutting 101
Sat Dec 7, 2024 1:00 PM - 5:00 PM
InterAccess, 950 Dupont Street, Toronto, ON, M6H 1Z2
Description
Curious about learning fabrication techniques, but want to understand the larger context and critiques about it? Want to learn the skills, but don’t see yourself fitting into the “maker” mold? Have reservations about how the ease of these technologies can result in waste?
Then please join us for Anti-Making Making Club #1: Laser Cutting 101! This is the first workshop of a series where SHEEEPschool gathers a community of creative critical thinkers and anti-maker-makers for collaborative learning, play, discussions, and making, as we try to unpack together how we might make things in a meaningful, anti-consumerist, good way. All levels of experience (none to expert) with laser cutting welcome.
ABOUT THE FACILITATORS
The facilitators, Nam and Lily, are co-founders of SHEEEPschool, an experimental, multidisciplinary learning space in Toronto. SHEEEPschool develops collaborative art, design, and educational projects with critical-thinkers, communities, and grassroots organizations. Our aim is to reimagine how we engage with the built environment around us, and co-create more just environments by centering equity, community well-being, and social responsibility.
