Live Reactive Euphoria

Sat Feb 8, 2025 2:00 PM - 3:30 PM InterAccess, 950 Dupont Street, Toronto, ON, M6H 1Z2

Join an interactive artist talk with Wrynn Geswin, exploring her artistic process and breaking down her multimodal projection mapping practice. Through the exploration of her recent thesis exhibition, Deer-Machine-Ecosystem, Wrynn will explore several aspects of the work, ranging from the cultural: euphoria of queer existence, existing within alternative communities, and alternate gallery spaces; to the technical: manipulating paintings with projection, live reactive installation, and the technicality of media control systems. With audience participation, Wrynn will live code a small installation that uses similar techniques to explore the projection stage with the input of other artists’ brains.

About the Artist

Wrynn Geswin is a Mexican-Canadian multidisciplinary artist who works primarily with new media, photographic arts, sculpture, engineering, and design. She was born in Mexico City but carries her practice in Toronto, Ontario. Her works focus on the inconsistencies of the corporate world we inhabit as well as the exploration of gender identity through new media. Geswin holds a BFA in Integrated Media from OCAD University. Wrynn is a finalist for the 2024 InterAccess Media Arts Prize.

About the Media Arts Prize

Since 1990, the InterAccess Media Arts Prize has been granted annually to a graduating student whose work exhibits excellence and innovation in new media practice. Faculty from university programs within the GTA are invited to nominate a student to be considered for a solo exhibition in InterAccess's gallery. Nominations are adjudicated by InterAccess's Programming Committee, who select a prize winner to be awarded a solo exhibition opportunity, a complimentary one-year studio membership, and professional development and mentorship. All finalists receive a complimentary one-year studio membership to InterAccess and an opportunity for a public artist talk.
