Digital Mirrors: Creating Interactive Projections for Artists and Dancers is for artists looking to design motion-interactive projections and explore inter-arts collaboration with dancers.

Over the span of the workshop, participants will:

• Learn techniques for manipulating camera feeds to isolate, cache, repeat, and transform dancers, and use skeletal tracking data from a Kinect to power interactive projections.
• Explore collaboration techniques including guided somatic dance work examining the body's relationship to technology, inter-arts brainstorming and visualization, and translating new media language for dancers and vice versa.
• Work in small groups to create a mini project featuring interactive projection and dance.

Participants leave with a portfolio-ready mini project, new techniques and skills for inter-arts creation, and new connections within the new media and dance community.

Through these initiatives, we aim to give participants further opportunities to build their new media arts practice and engage with Toronto's creative communities.

ABOUT THE FACILITATORS

Meaningful Movement is an art collective co-founded by Abbey Richens and Zuri Skeete. The pair started this initiative aiming to bridge different art mediums together and explore making spaces that were specifically curated for emerging artists. Since 2020, Meaningful Movement has evolved from digital to physical spaces, with over 25 events within the G.T.A and surrounding areas. Confluence is a Toronto-based art collective working within the intersection of dance and creative technology. Led by interdisciplinary artist Grace Sun (@whengracecreates) and choreographer/dancer Zoë Guthrie, the collective has two main driving objectives for their explorations of dance and creative tech: the facilitation of opportunities for community experimentation and the development of new film and theatrical works. Both collectives continue to hold space for artists to discover new avenues of their practice and build community. They are both committed to equitable environments where multi-disciplinary work can flourish.

ACCESSIBILITY INFORMATION
We are located on the second floor of the building, which is accessible by two flights of stairs or an elevator. The front entrance has an automatic push door and is accessible by ramp or a short flight of stairs. Inside, all InterAccess facilities are on the same level, including a single-user accessible washroom.
