Racing for Resilient infrastructure: Enhancing evidence-based decision-making for climate action in urban infrastructure
Tue 25 Jun 2024 4:30 PM - 5:45 PM
Bentley Systems UK Ltd, 43rd, 6-8 Bishopsgate, London, EC2N 4BQ
Description
Hosted in the context of London Climate Action Week and the Race to Resilience global campaign, this event will discuss benefits and challenges of leveraging technology and data to enhance evidence-based decision-making for climate action. The focus will be on solutions that can be deployed now and rapidly scaled and transferred across multiple sectors to support delivery of the Sharm El Sheik Adaptation Agenda as well as net-zero targets.
Technological advancements - including AI and digital twins - can be harnessed and embraced to better address climate change and improve the resilience and sustainability of infrastructure, benefiting people and the economy. Policymakers and practitioners alike can use these technologies to enhance climate adaptation and mitigation efforts and decision-making for resilience throughout the lifecycle of infrastructure, for example, by modeling physical climate risks and impacts on infrastructure and vulnerable communities, providing an assessment of the condition of existing infrastructure, enhancing or supporting operational efficiency, safety and reliability, before, during and after hazard events.
London is home to a growing climate technology sector - the city holds vast opportunities for innovation through partnership and collaboration. This event will highlight initiatives unique to the UK’s capital, such as GLA’s London Infrastructure Mapping Application and The London Climate Resilience Review.
Convened by the International Coalition for Sustainable Infrastructure (ICSI) and co-hosted by the Climate Champions Team and the Institution of Civil Engineers (ICE), this event will bring together city leaders, engineers, and tech experts to explore opportunities and challenges for harnessing data and technology for climate action.
The event will mobilize global partners and encourage a multi-stakeholder dialogue on how innovative technology applications in urban infrastructure can build resilience and sustainability, with a special focus on solutions that are holistic, transferable, and inclusive at their core.
On the day, registration for this event will open at 16:00, with the session starting promptly at 16:30 and will run till 17:45. There will be a networking drinks reception following this session between 17:45 - 18:30.
