RICS IPTI Workshop: Compulsory Purchase and the Assessment of Compensation

There is a need across the Caribbean Region for the training of valuation professionals focused on compulsory purchase and the assessment of compensation. This is a specialist area of professional practice and requires relevant knowledge and expertise.

In response to this need, the RICS and IPTI will deliver a series of interactive workshops which will review the relevant legal framework and examine how it should be implemented in practice.

The workshop will be delivered in four separate sessions structured as follows:

1. September 23,2026 - Introduction And Background 
2. October 1, 2026 - The Heads of Claim 
3. October 21, 2026 - Assessing the Claim
4. November 6, 2026 - Negotiations and Settling the Claim  (1 day after the RICS-IPTI Caribbean Conference)

The training will be delivered in three online sessions, the final one being a hybrid event with an in-person option for those able to attend a workshop in Kingston, Jamaica.

The course will include a number of case studies to provide practical experience of dealing with this type of casework. It will also refer to current issues concerning compulsory purchase and the assessment of compensation.
