INTERWOVEN SINTRA

INTERWOVEN é um projecto de Felipa Almeida (Portugal) e do colectivo Omarcity (Bélgica). Depois da primeira edição em Vila Viçosa, em Abril, regressa em Setembro — as mesmas artistas, num lugar diferente e com peças novas. Durante apenas três dias, abrimos as portas de uma casa dos anos 1960 em Sintra, prestes a ser restaurada.

O projecto junta nove designers e artistas dos dois países, cruzando cerâmica e tecelagem, cestaria de bunho e de esparto, trabalho em pele e têxteis descartados. Nesta exposição mostramos peças colaborativas inéditas, criadas para este espaço, cada uma juntando duas designers, dois materiais e duas técnicas. Apresentamos ainda uma selecção de trabalhos individuais de cada artista.

INTERWOVEN is a project by Felipa Almeida (Portugal) and the collective Omarcity (Belgium). After the first edition in Vila Viçosa last April, it returns in September — the same artists, a different place, new pieces. For three days only, we open the doors of a 1960s house in Sintra, soon to be restored.

The project brings together nine designers and artists from both countries, working across ceramics and weaving, bulrush and esparto basketry, leatherwork and discarded textiles. The exhibition presents new collaborative pieces, created specifically for this space, each one made by a duo of makers, bringing two materials and two techniques into a single work. These are shown alongside a selection of individual works by each artist.
