Also known as a "gong bath", this experience simply involves lying down, getting cosy and comfortable and then closing your eyes to focus on the mysterious, yet deeply calming sounds of the gongs and other soothing sounds.

By immersing yourself in the complex sound vibrations of the gongs your mind slows down and you're able to achieve a feeling of deep relaxation that is often hard to reach in our busy modern lives. Physically, the soundwaves from the gongs vibrate the water within our bodies which helps to activate the natural relaxation processes of our nervous system. Afterwards you should feel an overall sense of calm and focus as well as a reduction in stress levels. Often people experience improvement in their sleep.

There's nothing particularly special you need to do when preparing for a sound bath but please do see the list of contraindications below and get in touch via claire@intunewellbeing.co.uk if you're not sure about anything. It's recommended you be well hydrated before your experience as sound and vibration travel much better through water.

· Please wear comfortable, warm clothing - layers is a good idea

· It’s advisable not to have a really heavy meal or alcohol beforehand

· You won’t be expected to do anything – this is your time to just lie down and rest, be open and receive

The session will be 60 minutes which includes time to settle before we start and an invitation to share or ask questions about your experience afterwards.

Limited spaces are available so booking is essential.

What to bring

Yoga mat, blankets, bolsters or pillows and anything else you need to be comfortable - don’t be shy, bring whatever you know will support you! Be aware that your body temperature may drop as you relax so it’s important to be cosy.

Dan is the Creative Director for a company that makes educational apps but his passion has always been music and sound. As a musician, he became interested in the healing capacity of sound when his mum was unwell with Alzheimers and was fascinated by the way in which he could use sound to reach her, even towards the end of her illness. He subsequently trained with the College of Sound Healing as a gong practitioner and is very much involved in the sound healing arm of In Tune Wellbeing - you can find him over on instagram @intune_gongs
