Co-authors Marco Becht, Anete Pajuste, and Anna Toniolo will discuss their findings in this 2023 Moskowitz Prize Honorable Mention paper. In the paper, the authors demonstrate that, contrary to investment-industry belief, divestment announcements impact stock prices when they support narratives that change perceptions of risk. The authors will present their findings for 30 minutes and then open it up for Q&A. This session will be moderated by Lloyd Kurtz, Visiting Scholar at the Kellogg School of Management at Northwestern University and founder of the Moskowitz Prize.
